Hip-Hop and Rap Scene Tarnishes Music Industry Image
Hip-hop, rap, it’s all the same to me man.
I had no idea how serious a problem the criminal element that exist in the world of hip-hop and rap music is until I did a Google search.
So that little twerp Chris Brown walks into a Los Angeles courtroom today with his mommy in by his side, and answers to charges he is facing for beating the crap out of Rihanna. To nobody’s surprise, he pleaded not guilty. It brought a tear to his mommy’s eye.
Not guilty my ‘effin you know what!’
The evidence is stacked against him. Has he not seen the photo of a beaten up Rihanna, the one that was published in newspapers around the world?
You know what’s going to happen, the little ‘batterer’ is going to be found guilty on the most serious of the charges, and he is going to go to jail. He won’t get a lot of time, but he is going to get some. I fully expect the judge in this case to use this case against Brown to send a tough message to other hip-hop artists who condone violence against women, or anybody else for that matter.
Hip-hop artists who commit acts of violence, or any serious crime for that matter, are a dime a dozen. I don’t think I have heard of genre of music that is more criminally active, in fact I know haven’t. Sure rock stars have been known to break the law, but they aren’t and have never committed acts of violence against another person at the rate hip-hop artists do.
Come on, somebody reading this blog article call me on that one. Prove me wrong.
There many hip-hop artists who are a cancer on the music industry, and every effort should be made to remove that cancer from the industry.
Hip-hop and rap music should be force underground, banished from the mainstream music scene until the artists clean up their act.
Take away their bread and butter and watch how fast their attitude changes when it comes to the music they write. You can bet they won’t be as lawless as they are now if the law, and the record companies that producer the music get tougher on the dregs of society who think they are above the law because they‘re stars.
The same should, and will be said here about those who feed of them, the producers of the hip-hop acts the music industry is flooded with today. Yes, they are cancer on the music industry too.
Let’s see how many hip-hop artists and producers I can name who have been convicted of a crime, or are currently facing criminal charges.
There’s JaRule. He was convicted of assault. Remy Ma, she shot somebody. Then there’s Beanie Sigel-convicted of misdemeanor assault.
How about DMX, isn’t he a piece of work? Snoop Dogg and the recently charged Kanye West.
What about L’il Kim, currently appearing on Dancing with the Stars-she did ‘time’ too didn’t she?
How about P. Diddy, Puff Daddy Sean Combs or whatever he is going by these days, if memory serves me well he has faced his fair share of criminal charges, but in the end beat them. Money talks huh?
Hmm, let’s see, who else?
How about Tupac Shakur. He’s dead now, gunned down he was, but did you know he was convicted of sexual assault and was sentenced to one-and-a-half to four-and-a-half years in prison. He went all ‘rapist’ on a woman in 1993. Tupac by the way is where he belongs.
Of course, there’s Chris Brown, who as far as I’m concerned should spend some time behind bars, not much time, but enough to send him a message.
Busta Rhymes was convicted of assaulting a fan once.
Then there’s the manager of D12. Jeremy Nathaniel Geffen was charged with sexually assaulting two teenage girls and giving them cocaine. His case is pending.
Who can forget the R. Kelly charges? The case against him dragged on for how many years before he walked. In the end he beat the sex crime charges against him. Money talked there too.
I’m sure I can add Eminem to the list. What about 50 Cent?
In 1998, Coolio built up quite a rap sheet.
He faced assault charges and theft after an incident in Germany. He was convicted on assault and robbery charges, was given six months probation and $17,000.00 fine.
He was pulled over while driving his Hummer and police found a semi-automatic pistol and marijuana in the vehicle.
Most recently, he was charge with possession of crack cocaine and battery.
Yeah man, that Coolio is a real winner.
How about Shyne, wasn’t he convicted of assault, weapons possession and other charges. A charge of attempted murder was dropped. He was sentenced to a 10-year prison sentence in 2001, and this year he became eligible for parole. Lucky him.
Then there’s Suge Knight. That guy should be doing life by now, but judges keep cutting him slack. I wonder why that is. There’s a three-strike law in California isn’t there?
Last but certainly not least, aspiring hip hop artist Alfonso “Slinkey” Blake. He is sitting on death row at Ely State Prison. He had a thing for strippers and shot three of them, two of them mortally. That was six years ago.
I could go on and on naming losers on the hip-hop and rap scene, but for now I won’t.
