President Barack Obama Stokes the America Bashing Fire with Apology

Published by ceegee at 10:47 pm under M.O.F.O Edit This

Somebody hit me over the head with a hammer. I need to make sure that I didn’t dream that President Obama apologized to the rest of the world for the arrogance of America’s ways.  Talk about setting America up for more international criticism and having the finger of blame pointed at them more often.

Woohoo, that’s going to go over well in the land of the free and the home of the brave, huh.

By admitting that America has been ‘arrogant and dismissive’ towards Europe, that America has looked down on Europe, he is essentially saying, “Yeah, Hugo Chavez was right about us.”

President Obama should not have admitted that America looked down on Europe, and he certainly shouldn’t have taken it upon himself to make apologies for his predecessor.

I don’t know, there is something about his apology that just doesn’t feel right to me, and when it comes to America bashers, the term, ‘kicking a dog while it is down’ comes to mind.

Watch for the leaders of America’s reluctant allies, and its enemies, to find a way to take advantage of what could be mistake as an admission of guilt by some, rather than an apology.

Venezuela President Hugo Chavez must be grinning ear-to-ear. President Obama has played right into his hands in my opinion, and Chavez is going to make the most of President Obama’s apology.

There are those conservatives who hold the view that the only reason the commander-in-chief made such an apology is because he was hoping that European countries would show him their appreciation for his ‘American bashing’ by committing extra troops to Afghanistan.

They might be right about that, but I think his ‘apology’ was a legitimate attempt at mending fences, and that it had nothing to do with troop commitments in Afghanistan.

If President Obama was motivated to make such an apology because he wanted more from NATO, he didn’t get it. NATO is standing firm with what they promised; 3000 soldiers for short-term deployment (Obama wanted it to be long-term) and 2000 personnel to train Afghan security forces.

No offense to the Afghan people, but I really doubt Afghan security forces have the brave heart or the intellect to maintain security after NATO troops pull out. I feel the same way about Iraqi security forces too. Oh hey, speaking of Iraq, I hear they are opening up a “museum of Saddam Hussein.” Isn’t that freaking hilarious?

President Barack Obama beat America down with his apology for America’s behaviour towards Europe, and you just know that that isn’t going to go down well for him in the U.S., or anywhere else in the world for that matter.

I’m looking forward to hearing his clarification about [that] apology. You know that is forthcoming, but when is anybody’s guess.
